At Mansfield Vision Center we are proud to provide Optos screening on every patient, without additional charge.
The Optos provides an “optomap” of the inner eye, using scanning lasers to capture a 200-degree photo-like view of the retina in under a second. This allows us to more thoroughly screen every patient for peripheral retinal disease such as retinal tears, detachments, and melanoma. The technology does not quite replace pupil dilation, but certainly provides a quick overview of the internal health of the eye allowing the doctors to be a bit more problem-focused when they physically view the retina. It also gives us more information to rely on in deciding whether or not to recommend dilation.
The Optos is just one more tool in our arsenal to help us provide the most technologically-advanced, state-of-the-art patient eye care possible, and we are proud to offer it as part of every routine eye exam.
